The Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center has received a $10,000 grant from City Center to support a recently-completed enhancement of the center's community room. The project was also supported by an anonymous foundation.
“City Center is pleased to support Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center’s efforts to deliver important work and programs in downtown Allentown," said City Center President J.B. Reilly. "The Center is a key community partner in creating a vibrant urban environment downtown.”
Programs in the community room include artist and author talks, lectures, film screenings, community forums on LGBT issues, and more. In addition to programs produced by Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, the space is also used by Lehigh Valley Humanists for their monthly events. In 2017 alone, Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center produced 47 free arts and culture programs for the community.
"The free arts and culture programs we are producing at our community center in downtown Allentown bring people together to celebrate the tradition of art and culture in the LGBT community," said Adrian Shanker, Executive Director, Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. "Our enhanced community room means we are better positioned to offer space for more exciting programs to come. We are grateful to City Center and the anonymous foundation for their support of this project."
