Like many of you, we too are concerned and closely following the recent outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in our country and the suburbs of Philadelphia.
COVID-19 is an emerging respiratory disease and as of this writing there is still more to learn about its transmission, clinical course and the populations at increased risk of COVID-19.
Taking prudent precautions designed to limit exposure to COVID-19 and following the advice of public health officials, many concert promoters, festival organizers, conference hosts and sporting leagues have postponed or canceled events scheduled to occur over the next 2 months for the safety and well-being of event staff, participants and the community.
Unknown at this time is how long or short this outbreak will be and the implications this evolving health threat will have.
Well known to us is every festival is someone’s first Pride and the enormous importance this festival has for so many of you in the LGBT+ community.
As Pride is a little over 4 months away we feel it is premature to make any decision regarding the cancelation or postponement of the festival at this time.
The health, safety and well-being of our staff, vendors and community are of the utmost importance. In the weeks and months ahead we will be monitoring the status of this outbreak, the health of our community and consult with local and federal public health officials on the viability of holding the Pride festival as scheduled.
In responding to this emerging public health threat, we encourage everyone to practice good personal health habits and do their part by taking preventive actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Information can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, Steps to Prevent Illness
By following those tips and everyone making smart healthy decisions, we’re hopeful COVID-19 goes away and all of us can go back to normal.
Take Care, Be Safe and Keep Proud!
