Vigils remember the dead, confront violence


Four separate vigils held in south central Pennsylvania under the umbrella banner of Stronger Than Hate focused on recent tragedies in the U.S.

The vigils were held Oct. 29 - Nov. 1 in Harrisburg, York, and Carlisle calling attention to the recentanti-Semitic terrorist attack on Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue which left 11 people dead, the killing of two African-American people at Kentucky grocery store in Kentucky by a white man who had tried to get inside a predominantly Black church, and a slew of pipe bombs sent to governmental and political leaders across the country.

Participating entities included the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg, York citizens groups,Tuesdays with Toomey Harrisburg: Standing Against Hate, For Pittsburgh;and #WontBeErased: Rise Up for Trans Resistance & Existence.
