Idaho Republican lawmaker

Suicide follows allegations

Idaho Republican lawmaker, Brandon Hixon, died from a self-inflicting gunshot wound to the head. The Canyon County Coroner’s office ruled his death a suicide but police are still investigating.

Hixon was under investigation for reportedly molesting two girls, including a young female relative of his who was abused for more than 10 years. The other victim was not related to him.

Nixon reportedly took his life before facing justice through the legal system. the deceased's ex-wife, Danielle Eirvin Hixon, said that the suicide has robbed her family of facing their accuser in court. “Brandon made people believe that he was a stand-up, morally correct person,” said Hixon, who was married to the former lawmaker for 10 years until their divorce in 2016. “But behind the house walls, he would cheat on me and molested children.”

After Hixon resigned, he was also arrested with two misdemeanors for driving under the influence and resisting arrest, according to Ada County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Patrick Orr.
