Meet Ryan White's mom

The Ryan White Act, nation’s first comprehensive HIV legislation

Posted

UPMC Pinnacle’s REACCH Program gives the region an opportunity to meet Ryan White’s mom March 25. This special evening of HIV Awareness honors Ryan’s legacy with guest speaker, Jeanne White-Ginder, Ryan’s mom. The nation’s first comprehensive HIV legislation is known as The Ryan White Act.

Mrs. White-Ginder will address HIV as she recounts her experience as a mother watching her son battle the disease. She discusses how her community, the public, and celebrities responded. Her moving, first-hand account will provide an historical perspective in the early days of the diagnosis, the progress made, and the work yet to be done.

The program will be held at Susquehanna Art Museum, 1401 N. Third Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102. 6:30-7 p.m. is a Dessert Reception. Program is 7-8 p.m.

The UPMC Pinnacle REACCH Program receives funding from the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, which provides a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, essential support services, and medications for uninsured and underserved people living with HIV.

Please RSVP by contacting Cori Drenning at drenningca@upmc.edu.
