APRIL 6 PUBLIC MEETING

Legislative redistricting starts to heat up

Posted

With 50 affiliated groups across Pennsylvania, Fair Districts PA is holding a volunteer open house to educate and enlist interested citizens in the redistricting reform effort.

The event will be held at the Giant Community Center, 2300 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110 Sat., April 6 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.  People can stop by during that time and talk to volunteers, gather information, sign petitions and write postcards to their legislators, according to information provided by the group.

The activity parallels the work of the Governor’s Redistricting Reform Commission which has announced nine regional meetings to gather public feedback about the commonwealth’s redistricting process. The 15-member bipartisan commission was created by executive order in November 2018. David Thornburgh, president and CEO of Committee of Seventy, one of Fir Districts PA’s endorsing organizations, is chair.
