FAB OCT 17

Celebrate our community and worthy award winners

There is a lot to feel anxious, fearful, and angry about right now - both in the national news, and in our local communities. As those who are most marginalized continue to be under attack, this is a critical time for us to come together to use our voices and take action collectively to fight for our freedom.

Fighting for our freedom means fighting white supremacy by consistently and unapologetically centering Black lives, voices, and experiences. Fighting for our freedom means fighting hate speech and hate crimes by protecting, defending, and continuing to grow our safe spaces. Fighting for our freedom means fighting attempts at voter suppression by voting like our lives depend on it, because so many of ours do. Fighting for our freedom means creating space for joy, love, and laughter in the midst of oppression, pain, and suffering. We are fighting for our freedom because, in the words of Fannie Lou Hamer, "Nobody's free until everybody's free."

I hope you will join us at *virtual* FAB 2020: Fighting for our Freedom next Saturday, October 17 from 6:30-8:30 PM as we highlight the Center's work toward collective liberation, honor leaders in our communities who are fighting for our freedom, and invite you to be engaged in this critical work at a critical time.

We are thrilled to honor each of our FAB 2020 awardees, who are doing such impactful, change-making work:

· Dr. Rachel Levine, Movement Leadership Award

· Heidi Notario, Legacy Award

· Ricardo Almodovar, Local Spotlight Award

· Brice Williams, Rising Star Award

· Casey Stokes-Rodriguez, Volunteer of the Year Award

· Sundae Best, Creatives for Change Award

We want everyone to be able to attend FAB 2020, and we recognize the pandemic has impacted a lot of people economically. So this year our suggested donation for a Regular Ticket is $50, and our suggested donation for a VIP Ticket is $100. We are also offering a Choose-Your-Own-Price for both Regular and VIP Tickets, ranging from $25 to $150. Choose what you’re able to give and help us reach our fundraising goal for this event! We also have donated tickets available, so please contact us at info@centralpalgbtcenter.org if cost is still a barrier for you to participate.
